Responsibilities
The Team leader reports directly to the Shift manager and is responsible for supporting the organisation of the hour to hour control of the designated projects at the Customer.
Activities
- Organise the hour-to-hour function of their designated projects or area.
- Ensure that all Inspectors work in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the G&P and OEM HS&E requirements.
- Ensure for each project has the appropriate level of information required to carry out the task, whilst ensuring accuracy of the information supplied TAKT time confirmation will also need to be validated. Escalation back to the relevant QSB/CP member will be required for all elements identified as being away from the expected standard.
- Assure product quality by defining the required labelling, material flow, and product handling/packing disciplines in the Project Test Plan and set up. All uninspected [stop], passed [OK] and failed [NOK] product is clearly labelled and segregated in the workplace.
- Organise the resources required to ensure the section inspection targets are achieved through checking the skill matrix. Endeavour to ensure consistency allocation of Inspectors to particular projects for consistency.
- Ensure all Inspectors understand and are capable of working to the required Test Plan with good material flow including appropriate labelling.
- For the relevant project ensure the Inspectors are equipped with the correct tooling, personnel protective equipment and materials to carry out the required activities in accordance with the Test Plan.
- Ensure a high standard of Inspector attire /appearance and housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensure skill training updates are given to the shift management for inclusion in staff skill matrix.
- Ensure effective communication within the team, to G&P staff and with the client Quality/Mfg support teams. Particular attention should be paid to communicating waiting time and revisions to the agreed takt times if found to be unachievable.
- Advise shift management and Customer Supervision [if appropriate] of concerns identified during the ongoing inspection activities.
- Work with shift management to resolve immediately any issues found in layered audits. In the absence of dedicated auditors carry out the required shift layered audits.
- If required personally carry out the required inspection activities as needed in accordance with the project Test Plan.
- Ensure that the required Project paperwork [i.e. Test Plan, Project Authorisation, Risk Assessments and DRSs] is completed on time and to the required standard for all projects under their control.
- Any other duties for which the Team leader holds the appropriate skills.
Requirements
- Leading teams in an automotive/manufacturing/quality background,
- Manage a team of skilled/non-skilled 5+,
- Movement of stock knowledge,
- Manufacturing experience (automotive, logistics, aerospace, FMCG, pharma),
- Experience following and forcing adherence of work instructions,
- Good communication,
- Intermediate level in English language,
- Basic computer skills/experience with in house systems,
- Very mobile, walking 3+ miles a day.

- Previous quality inspection background,
- Computer skills (excel, word, outlook, SAP),
- Writing work instructions,
- Engineering background/qualifications,
- Interpret CAD diagrams,
- Basic knowledge of German,
- Understanding of quality tools (8D),
- Process audit experience,
- Own car and ability to travel.
