We are supporting a high-performance automotive manufacturer in their search for an Interior Trim Supplier Quality Engineer to join their Surrey-based team on a contract basis.


This is a hands-on role focused on supplier quality, containment and recovery activities across a range of interior trim commodities including seating, leather, textiles, soft trim, cockpit assemblies and other appearance-critical components. You'll play a key role in protecting vehicle build, supporting production and driving supplier performance improvements.


Role Overview


Working closely with Suppliers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering and Programme teams, you'll take ownership of supplier quality concerns, ensuring effective containment actions are implemented while driving robust corrective actions and sustainable supplier recovery plans.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage supplier quality concerns across interior trim and appearance-critical components
  • Lead supplier containment activities to protect production and vehicle build
  • Manage Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2) activities through to containment exit
  • Drive supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why and other structured problem-solving techniques
  • Coordinate sorting, inspection, rework and third-party containment activities where required
  • Monitor supplier performance through PPM, defect trends, quality escapes and recovery metrics
  • Act as the key interface between suppliers and internal cross-functional teams
  • Escalate supplier risks and provide clear updates on containment status, recovery plans and quality concerns


Experience Required:

  • Proven Supplier Quality Engineering experience supporting interior trim commodities within automotive manufacturing
  • Experience working with seating, leather, textiles, soft trim, cockpit assemblies or other appearance-critical components
  • Previous experience managing supplier containment, supplier recovery and production protection activities
  • Strong understanding of Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2) and supplier escalation processes
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, 8D and Root Cause Analysis methodologies
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience within OEM, Tier 1, motorsport or high-performance automotive manufacturing environments is advantageous
  • Must have the independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
