The role
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead maintenance operations, ensuring machinery, equipment, and site services are maintained safely and efficiently to support production activities. Working closely with production, technical, and engineering teams, you will oversee preventative maintenance programmes, respond to equipment issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance, servicing, and inspections
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide hands-on technical support when required
- Maintain maintenance schedules, records, and performance reports
- Drive continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
- Support equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements
- Work closely with operational and technical teams to support business objectives
What we're looking for:
- Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing maintenance teams
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage maintenance schedules and workloads
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and equipment reliability principles
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, organised, and safety-focused approach
- Relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent experience
Desirable experience:
- Experience within advanced manufacturing, process, automotive, aerospace, metals, energy, or industrial sectors
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience supporting equipment installation and commissioning projects
- Exposure to maintenance management systems and KPI reporting
Location
Primarily based at the company's Birmingham site in Tyseley, with occasional travel to a second Birmingham location as required. Candidates should be flexible and willing to work across both sites depending on business needs.
