The role
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities, supporting equipment reliability, and minimising downtime across the manufacturing operation.
Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will support fault finding, repairs, installations, and continuous improvement activities while ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across manufacturing equipment and site services
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise production downtime
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment
- Maintain motors, drives, sensors, and industrial control systems
- Assist with continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with site health, safety, and quality standards
What we're looking for:
- Relevant electrical qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience working with motors, drives, sensors, and industrial control systems
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- A proactive, reliable, and team-oriented approach
Desirable experience:
- Knowledge of PLC systems, fault finding, and basic programming
- Experience supporting equipment installations and commissioning projects
- Experience within advanced manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, metals, process, or industrial sectors
- Experience driving continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
Location
Primarily based at the company's Birmingham site in Tyseley, with occasional travel to a second Birmingham location as required. Candidates should be flexible and willing to work across both sites depending on business needs.
