The Opportunity


Are you a skilled machinist with a passion for precision engineering? We're looking for a Fabrication & CNC Manuel Machinist to join our team supporting low-volume prototype builds across a range of engineering programmes.

In this hands-on role, you’ll be setting, operating, and programming manual and CNC machinery—including milling machines, lathes, grinders, guillotines, and presses.


You’ll produce and modify components made from ferrous and non-ferrous materials to support teams across Engine Build, Electric Drive Unit Build, and Test Operations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Set, operate, and program 3-axis CNC manual machines, manual lathes/mills to high quality standards.
  • Accurately interpret and work from technical engineering drawings.
  • Inspect and self-verify work to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient working environment through 5S and TPM practices.
  • Work independently or collaboratively to solve machining challenges across a range of departments.


Key Performance Indicators


  • Consistent delivery of high-quality components to schedule.
  • Demonstrated competence across machining, fabrication, and inspection tasks (Skills Matrix).
  • Effective support across varied prototype and test requirements.
  • Safe and efficient operation of all machinery and tools.
  • Engagement in continuous improvement and housekeeping practices.


You’ll collaborate regularly with:


  • Engine Build and Engine Test Operations
  • Electric Drive Unit Build Teams
  • Vehicle Workshop & Battery Build
  • Certification, Diagnostics and Facility Maintenance teams


Essential Skills & Experience


  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing or a related field.
  • Strong experience with 3-axis CNC machinery (setting, operating, programming).
  • Competent in manual machining (turning, milling) and tool setup.
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and use basic measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of working with a wide range of materials (ferrous & non-ferrous).
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a hands-on approach.


Desirable


  • Experience with Proto Trak SMX controls and XYZ machines.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding, CAD software.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and overhead crane operations.
