Significant 2021 increase in audited parts by leading quality management provider

  • Quality management provider G&P audited more than 169 million parts for its customers in 2021, a 44 per cent increase compared to 2020 and 34 per cent increase compared with pre-pandemic levels
  • Parts reworked to manufacturer standards leaps by 82 per cent
  • G&P also removed over 10.5 million substandard components from the manufacturing process last year

A 44 per cent increase to 169,353,664 audited parts compared to the previous year, including a 34 per cent increase on pre-pandemic levels, has been reported for 2021 by leading quality management experts G&P.

2021 also saw an increase in parts reworked to manufacturer standards by 82 per cent, and stopped parts by more than 50 per cent, compared against 2020 totals alone as manufacturers and suppliers continue to deal with the global pandemic’s effect on working practices.

Working closely with manufacturers and suppliers around the world as they adapted to new production protocols, G&P also removed a further 10,515,313 substandard components from the manufacturing process in 2021, as the manufacturing industry emerged from COVID-19 related restrictions.

G&P chairman Geoff Cousins commented: “G&P has delivered great performance and growth in 2021 despite the continuing headwinds of covid and the microchip shortages that have resulted in reduced production volumes within the automotive and other technology sectors. The UK has led the way with 25 per cent growth over 2020 and a decent five per cent over 2019 when manufacturers were at full production and reflects the ongoing support that G&P is giving manufacturing industries and their supply chains. In addition, G&P Quality Management Kft based in Hungary has performed well as demand for our ‘Extended Workbench’ solution increases, and the rest of Europe is poised for growth as the sector recovers.”

G&P’s innovative Quality Excellence Model is a key asset for the company and its customers as it supports all stages of the product life cycle with a range of responsive and proactive services to deliver quality, efficiency and cost improvements.

A central pillar of the Quality Excellence Model is G&P’s proprietary software system called QTrak.

The fully paperless system gives G&P’s customers a competitive advantage as it provides real-time analysis and identification of quality issues, allowing problematic supply sources to be investigated without delay, parts contained and corrective action to be deployed to prevent further waste being produced.

Geoff added: “G&P has the expertise in all quality aspects of the product life cycle coupled with a partnership approach that delivers a flexible resource and management services to manufacturers as they ramp up production and launch new products. There is a growing recognition in many industries that this approach is incredibly valuable in times of uncertainty and G&P is well placed to deliver.”

Founded in 1994, G&P has grown to have a global presence, operating in more than 250 manufacturing facilities around the world. As well as automotive specialism, G&P also supports the aerospace, off-highway, marine, rail, and defence industries.
